World Trade Centre achieves BOMA BESt designation
Humford Management is pleased to announce that the World Trade Centre Edmonton, owned by the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, received the BOMA BESt Level 1 designation in 2011. This special designation recognizes buildings that follow environmental best practices. The Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and Humford Management are committed to continually finding ways to recycle and reduce utility costs by taking advantage of new technologies and resources.

Humford is pleased to annouce its' appointment as property manager for the Ironwood Assets portfolio. This five building portfolio is comprised of retail, office, and industrial properties in Alberta. Ironwood will provide asset management for the portfolio while Humford will assume property management duties. The leasing strategy will be directed by Ironwood with additional input provided by Humford Management.

Humford Management is pleased to announce its appointment as property manager for this 300,000 square foot office tower in downtown Edmonton.

Originally developed in 1966 the CN Tower is an iconic property and a landmark in Edmonton.

The property was transferred to new ownership in August 2011.

Humford Management is pleased to announce the promotion of Hilda Akullo and Peter Thomas to the positions of Accounting Managers. To adapt to Humford’s growth and address the need for restructuring within the accounting department, these two positions were newly created to oversee the accounting department and will report to the Controller. Dave has worked for Humford for over ten years. He started at Humford as a project accountant and over time has taken on positions of increasing responsibility and is currently our Controller. Dave has contributed to the successful growth of the company.

Manulife Place is an 860,000 square foot triple "A" office and retail property located in the core of Edmonton's financial district. Opening of Alberta Urban Municipalities Association office in the AMP Building
Humford Management is pleased to announce that the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) has now moved into their offices in the Alberta Municipal Place (AMP). Following the acquisition of the property in December 2008, this 60,000 square foot building has been substantially upgraded and improved. AUMA will occupy approximately 1/3rd of the building with the balance leased to third parties. Humford managed the construction and leasing program for the property, as well as performing property management duties.

Citadel Village, Summerwood Centre, and Timberlea Landing
Humford managed these three retail and mixed use properties for the WAM Development Group through the substantial completion of construction, tenant fit up and their eventual sale to RioCan REIT. Humford worked closely with asset management to create value in these properties during the development process.

These three properties are located in the Edmonton area and Fort McMurray and include anchor tenants such as Save-On Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart, and the Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

Grand Opening of Giant Tiger store at Leduc Towne Square
Humford is pleased to announce the grand opening of the new 18,000 square foot Giant Tiger store in Leduc Towne Square.

Giant Tiger, a privately held company, was established in 1961 in Ottawa and has grown to 191 stores across Canada. These family oriented stores carry clothing, footwear, groceries, home furnishings and health and beauty products.

Leduc Towne Square is also anchored by Safeway and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Humford Management is pleased to announce that it has been selected to manage this new acquisition by GPM (11) GP Inc. Humford assisted GPM with the due diligence and will be working closely with the GPM Asset Management team to create value in the investment.

The property is located on the North West corner of 111th Avenue and 163rd Street in the North West industrial area of Edmonton. It consists of 3 multi-tenancy buildings totalling 176,600 square feet and 2.39 acres of excess development land. The tenants are a mix of showroom retail, office/warehouse and office uses.

Prominent businesses in the Cannon Centre include Princess Auto, Commercial Bearing and Atlas Copco Canada.

Humford Management gives back to the community by Adopting A Road
Humford Management believes it is important to give back to the community. We want the properties we manage to be clean and safe. Why not the City we live in as well? The Humford Edmonton office has taken on this challenge and Adopted a Roadway - the north side of the westbound lane of the Sherwood Park Freeway from 34th Street to 50th Street. Twice a year our staff volunteer and work together to pick up litter along this route.

Pat Perpeluk promoted to Vice President Operations- Edmonton
Humford is pleased to announce the promotion of Pat Perpeluk to the position of Vice President Operations - Edmonton. In this newly created position, Pat will be responsible for the delivery and performance of Humford’s property management services in northern Alberta. Pat will lead the property management group and seek and implement best property management practices throughout our portfolio. Pat is in his tenth year with Humford Management and over this period has managed a broad range of office, retail and industrial properties.

Alberta Urban Municipalities Association
Humford Management is very pleased to announce that it has been selected to manage this property acquired by the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association. This 60,000 square foot office building was built in 1980. As part of their acquisition strategy AUMA and Humford will be undertaking a number of sustainability upgrades to make the property more energy and cost efficient, and improve the quality of the environment for occupants. Once the property is improved, the AUMA will occupy approximately a third of the building.

Humford managed the build to suit development of this new free standing 4,000 square foot Bank of Nova Scotia branch.

We are very pleased to welcome Scotiabank to the Belmont Towne Centre tenant mix that includes Sobeys, Rexall Drugs and Tim Hortons.

Belmont Towne Centre is located on the corner of the Victoria Trail and 137th Avenue in Edmonton.

9th Street Warehouse Fully Leased
Humford managed the renovation of this 179,000 square foot warehouse property in south east Calgary for KingSett Real Estate and Citium Enterprises Inc. With Dawson Wallace Construction as general contractor, the building was converted from a single tenant to a multi-tenant facility. The last remaining vacancy consisted of 8,255 sf of second floor office and was leased to Print Audit. Other tenants include HD Supply, Wolseley Canada, Boncor Building Products and Chariot Carriers.

Trail South Corners Repositioning Completed
Humford is pleased to announce that Sobeys Western Cellars has opened for business in the Trail South Corners Shopping Centre. Western Cellars occupies a formerly closed free standing restaurant that was extensively upgraded and modernized for their use. This culminates a successful repositioning of the property following its acquisition by the Redev Properties Group. Over the past two and a half years a combination of developing an additional building, new leasing and renewal leasing has resulted in a significant increase in the amount and quality of the net income from the property.

High Park Renovations Completed
Humford Management managed the renovation of this 25 year old 28,000 square foot retail and office property in West Edmonton. The exterior renovation modernized the look of the property as well as expanded the size of the building.

Go Green Designation for Garneau Professional Centre
The BOMA Go Green Certificate of Achievement, which recognizes environmental best practices, was awarded to the Garneau Professional Centre and Humford Management Inc. Related to this achievement, in 2005 Humford Management completed an energy audit and retrofit to reduce power consumption by approximately 25%.

David McGowan was appointed Controller at Humford Management. He takes a hands on approach with the day to day accounting, monthly statement preparation, annual working papers, annual operating cost reconciliation’s, annual budget preparation, GST filing and mortgage and property tax payment administration. Dave leads a team of 6 property accountants and 1 accounts payable clerk.

2006 TOBY Award for World Trade Centre
The World Trade Centre - Edmonton won the prestigious 2006 TOBY Award for a Historical Building at the BOMA Edmonton Awards Gala. The property is managed by Humford Management and is owned by the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce. This seven storey office building dates back to 1893 and was meticulously restored and modernized in 2003/2004 while retaining its historic character.
